I want to be picked, so let me put myself out here and see if a group house will pick me.
I lived in a group setting for a couple of years in college at the co-op at UCLA, so I'm comfortable with the workings of shared living, at least a little.
I may be a stretch for your concept of diversity, I think. I'm a man, with local character references (my sister Melinda and her friends will speak for my character), and I travel to DC for a week at at time (most weeks) sometimes two weeks.
I would prefer to live in a mixed gender group house.
I'm financially stable, employed, and pay bills on time. I've been staying in hotels while I have been coming to DC for 5 years or staying with my sister. Not tired of staying with my sister. She's great, and loves having me, but I don't want to wear out my welcome there, since I'm not paying rent.
Photos show me at eastern market and with a cool dude I sometimes flew with (well, only twice) before he got busier. (edit, let's be full-disclosure-clear: he's not endorsing me, and I've lost 20 pounds since that was taken) Why send photos? I'm not sure, but they tell something about a person. I have been to Shakespeare in the Park (Carter Barron) three years in a row. I've only been to the Black Cat once, and had a blast. I'm not an artist, but I went to Art-o-matic this year. One photo shows me with my sometimes goatee.
I don't watch much television. I'm a quiet roommate. I do have a car that I'd like to bring to the Washington area, but have not done that yet. Is there off street parking or good street parking? The car will be registered in IL for the time being.
I'm neat and clean up after myself ... and others. I always put the toilet lid (and seat) down. I'm a good cook, but spend most evenings at dinner with friends, but that is because I don't have my own kitchen, yet.
I'm likely to be older than you, which you'll see in the videos.
http://www.youtube.com/wildbill... I am young at heart. Certainly more of a sense of humor. I don't have a facebook or myspace account. Are you relieved?
I am quiet. Don't have a music collection or something to play it on. I do drink (I'm learning the red wines) but don't smoke. No drugs at all ... well, prescription meds for cholesterol so I can still have buttered popcorn at the movies. I'm out several evenings a week with my widening circle of friends.
I row out of Thompson Boat Center and Alexandria Community Rowing. I run more than infrequently. I'm getting in to better shape, trying to live a healthier life, but I'm not vegetarian or vegan, though you might be and that is fine with me.
I'm respectful of privacy, of course.
I understand that picking a house mate is more than the financial side of things, it's personalities. Please let me know if *you* think I would fit in. THAT is the most important thing. Low rent is not the most important thing, but it can't be 800-900... more like 500-600-ish.
I'm traveling in Sept to San Antonio (a week) and Dallas, TX (two days). It's not unusual for me to be traveling for a week at a time somewhere else, so you'd have a paying roommate who was gone at least some of the time. I don't mind participating in household duties, but if being gone a week at a time ruins things, maybe I would not fit in.
Sincerely, Bill
