Position: Publications Editor, Creative Solutions Group

Reports to: Senior Manager, Creative Solutions Group



Job Summary:

Editorial position responsible for the quality assurance and compliance of research publications and presentations, including research studies of varying lengths, meeting/teleconference handouts, onscreen presentations, invitations, online materials, and fax polls. This position focuses primarily on copy editing, proofreading, project management skills, coaching on grammar and style, and helping CEB staff adhere to company standards. The publications editor role in the Creative Solutions Group is ideal for candidates in the early stages of a career in editing.



Key Responsibilities:

• Copyediting and proofing iterations of research publications and presentations

• Thorough, intensive reading and quality checking of deliverables at final stage before publication

• Delivering editorial feedback to staff members

• Training staff on quality control issues

• Coordinating the day-to-day proofing needs with manager and prioritizing proofing queue accordingly

• Performing blueline and proof reviews

• Managing and balancing workload with teammates

• Maintains strict adherence to team/department protocols

• Communicates compliance expectations to all partners





Candidate Attributes:

• Experience with publications of publications with more than 20 pages length preferred

• Extensive knowledge of grammar

• Thorough knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style

• Awareness of effective graphic design principles (or desire to learn)

• A keen eye for detail

• A positive, solution-oriented approach to problems

• An understanding of the importance of in-house style and templates

• One-on-one coaching skills

• Ability to deliver clear, constructive feedback, both in-person or remote

• Project and expectation management experience

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to perform gracefully under pressure and meet inflexible and shifting deadlines

• Superior customer service ethic and interpersonal skills

• Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management skills

• Willingness to be flexible to project needs; availability to work occasional long days and weekends

• Ability to perform as part of a team as well as individually



Education/Experience Requirements:

• College degree in a related discipline and 1-2 years experience in proofreading/copyediting field

• Demonstrated understanding of standard industry proofreading marks

• Familiarity with the Macintosh platform preferred
