I boarded my puppy in Shirlington for a day and half and she came home with a fractured leg. They do not know how it happened as no one saw it, and it was only when they put her in the crate at 7pm the first night. She was left unsupervised with a puppy that had played too aggressively with my dog when we first arrived. My dog was on her back, ears tucked back, and teeth showing multiple times. She tried to get away multiple times but was pinned against the wall and the corner. All while the owner of Woofs was watching! I am ashamed to admit I was embarassed to ask the owner to separate the puppies, I called myself overprotective. The puppies ended up in the puppy area with one other puppy and somehow my puppy ended up with a fractured leg. I learned quickly that your dogs are not as safe as you think they are Woofs. No one took her to the vet, no one called me or my fiance. She had a fractured leg - but the staff assumed that (a) it was a preexisting condition (no idea why) and (b) it was just a muscle strain. I was told by the owner that she was not in real pain because she never cried loudly. These behavior specialists still have a lot to learn. My puppy was crying softly, moping, and very low on energy when we picked her up. She's a terrier retriever mix that normally is full of excitement when she meets anyone. When we picked up from boarding her back right leg was dragging behind her on the floor when she could no longer hold it off the ground. When asked why she was not taken to the vet the owner actually said that it would be ridiculous to take every dog that limped at daycare to the vet. She then preceded to tell me how many times she had taken her dogs to the vet because she thought they had a fracture and didn't. I guess she's better safe than sorry and the Woof's clients are better sorry than safe. My dog is in a cast for a month - that requires a vet visit every 3 days to rewrap her splint (at least $65 a pop), cannot go for walks, play with toys, or do anything but rest and relieve herself. The staff have no idea how it happened. No one saw anything. I was told by the owner that it made no sense - she was with the other 2 puppies all day. I then reminded her that one of the puppies was very aggressive towards her and that I had asked that they be separated after I saw how my dog reacted to her "playing". Apparently they didn't keep them separated and left them confined in a puppy are without supervision. A staff member discovered her "limp" when it was time to take her to the crate for dinner. I can't believe that they did not provide better care, did not supervise the puppies carefully, and showed a complete lack of concern for my puppy's health. Follow up conversations with the owner were absolutely ridiculous - she was defensive, contradictory, lacked any compassion for the health of my dog, rude (cursed several times) all while I was just trying to find out how my dog fractured her leg under their supervision. They are unwilling to accept any responsibility for the terrible supervision and care they provided my pet. The owner told me, there are risks to daycare. These risks were intensified by the incompetent an unobservant trained staff. Woofs is not as safe as I thought it was. The owner does not love your dog. Take your business elsewhere
